Dr. McCarb's at Sydney Fringe Festival 2015

The new Horror/Comedy musical Dr. McCarb's Independent Surgical Hospital On The Hill will be playing at the New Theatre as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival 2015!
Book by Michael Heming and music and lyrics by Maria Alfonsine.

Dr. McCarb's Independent Surgical Hospital On The Hill is well known for its success with even the most difficult of medical cases. But when the Department of Health performs an inspection, will the unconventional methods allow the hospital to keep its license?

The Cast & Production Team

ZACH SELMES is currently majoring in music theatre at the Australian Institute of Music. Zach has previously performed in the ensemble of AIM's August 2015 production of The Witches of Eastwick and will be Hot Blades Harry and understudy to Bobby in AIM's December 2015 production of Urinetown.

In Dr. McCarb he playing the head the hospital Dr. Highbourne!

Laura Daniella Bucci has had a passion for the performing arts since the age of 5 when she started playing the piano and has since completed 8 piano examinations and performed in several piano concerts. In high school she studied music, dance and drama, with her HSC drama individual performance being nominated for OnSTAGE. Her previous show credits include Aladdin the Pantomime (HMDS) and various school performances. Laura is currently completing a Bachelor of Music majoring in Music Theatre at AIM.

Laura is excited to be playing the part of Dr. Hume, the Health Inspector, as well as a clumsy nurse and a villager, and she hopes that the audience will find the show quite ‘hume’orous.

ZAC THREADGOLD is acting in his debut musical production. His primary love however is writing such productions, having nearly completed a Bachelor of Music composition at the Australian Institute of Music, specialising in theatrical writing.

In Dr. McCarb he is playing the furious patient Mr Malone. Zac's also the show's excellent production assistant.

Writer and Co-Director MICHAEL HEMING
Michael is a performer, writer and director. His previous writing credits include the full-length musical 'The Rokitelly Man' (with music and lyrics by Andrew Hackwill), which made its Australian premiere in 2014. Michael has also directed with Genesian Theatre, St. George Theatre Company and the Short + Sweet festival.

Michael is the brain behind the original idea of Dr. McCarb's hospital!

LAURA SPENCER was a Irish dancer for 17 years and has recently returned to the theatre after a break to focus on her young family. She is currently attaining her Bachelor in Musical Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music. This spring she is also part of the Blue Mountains Musical Society’s (BMMS) production of Phantom of the Opera.

In Dr. McCarb she is giving life to a nurse, the patient Mrs McClusky and beautiful Ambrosia.

AARIN STARKEY is no stranger to off-beat comedies, his last Fringe endeavour saw him perform as a tyrannical lady realtor in re:LEASE. Previous show credits include, TOMMY (BMMS), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, A Chorus Line, Spring Awakening (MacMS), and RENT (CMS). When not performing, Aarin is busy being a Psychology student at Macquarie University or crying over adorable pictures of cats.

In Dr. McCarb he is giving life to the fabulous Dr.Mann, the brain at the hospital, and one of the villagers.

JESSICA FORD is a Sound Engineer from the Sunshine Coast and has worked on many plays, musicals and festivals around Queensland. Besides doing live sound projects, her strong energy and enthusiasm for working with audio has lead to studying a Bachelor Degree at the Australian Institute of Music. Jessica has almost finished her Audio Engineering studies and does freelance studio work.
